They’ve been divorced for years, but Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are continuing to fight over the French winery they formerly owned together. Now, in her latest claims, Angelina says her ex-husband stole from the property.
Court documents obtained by CNN reveal that Angelina’s former investment company Nouvel has made a new filing that accuses Brad of “looting” and “stripping” the winery’s assets in an attempt to keep control of the property.
Brad allegedly stole from the property in an act of retaliation after Angelina sold her shares in Chateau Miraval to Russian oligarch Yuri Shefler, which he says she did without properly informing him.
“Pitt wasted the company’s assets, spending millions on vanity projects, including more than $1 million on swimming pool renovations, building and rebuilding a staircase four times, and spending millions to restore a recording studio,” the court documents, which were filed earlier this month, reveal.
“Incensed that Jolie sold Nouvel to Stoli rather than him, Pitt has acted like a petulant child, refusing to treat Nouvel as an equal partner in the business,” the filing continues.
Brad originally filed a lawsuit over Angelina’s sale of her shares in February 2022. He claimed the transaction was illegal because he didn’t give his explicit consent.
This led Angelina to file a countersuit, which argued that they never agreed to needing each other’s consent in order to sell their shares. She claimed that the sale was necessary in order to assert her “financial independence” following her separation from Brad in 2016 (their divorce was finalized in 2019).
The million-dollar legal case remains ongoing, and Brad hasn’t responded to Angelina’s latest claims of “looting.”
The lawsuit over Chateau Miraval isn’t the only legal case the exes are battling. They’re still arguing through lawyers over custody of their minor children.
In June, it was reported that Brad and Angelina’s six children are tired of seeing their parents fight over custody and have urged them to drop the case.
Speaking to Radar Online, one source said the minor kids are “fine” with seeing their father. “Maybe the exception of Maddox, they all actually like him,” they added. “That really gets under Angie's skin,” the insider continued. “If she has her way, she'll continue to battle Brad for years. It's become a part of her."
"Angelina doesn't want to let her fight for sole custody go, but the children are growing up, and even they tell their mom it's time to stop," they said.
For now, it seems like Brad and Angelina’s legal battles will continue on.
